Ballistic Galvanometer for Physics Lab

Ballistic Galvanometer is designed for the measurement of very low electric currents. The instrument features rigid construction, reliable performance, and easy operation with a long time period.

The large moment of inertia of the moving system provides deflection that is closely proportional to the electric charge. The instrument is suitable for direct deflection measurements and can be used as both a periodic and an aperiodic galvanometer.

An arrangement is provided to make the instrument aperiodic by introducing suitable resistance in parallel with the moving coil system. Zero adjustment and locking devices are also provided. The phosphor-bronze suspension strip helps prevent shifting of the zero position.

The moving coil is fitted with a specially polished, front-silvered concave mirror suitable for use with a lamp and scale arrangement.
