+91 98967 93832The Mechanical Equivalent of Heat Apparatus is designed to demonstrate the equivalence of mechanical work and heat energy. The experiment converts mechanical energy into heat through friction by rotating different calorimeter vessels using a hand crank. The resulting temperature rise is measured to verify the relationship between mechanical work and thermal energy, demonstrating the principle of energy conservation. Software-based data acquisition enables automatic measurement and analysis in addition to manual experimentation. Manufactured by Atico Export India.
Principle
The experiment is based on the conversion of mechanical work into heat through friction. A hand crank rotates a calorimeter while a nylon belt applies frictional resistance using a suspended weight. The mechanical work performed is transformed into heat, causing an increase in the calorimeter temperature. By comparing the mechanical work with the heat produced, the mechanical equivalent of heat can be experimentally verified.
