+91 98967 93832The Determining the Wavelength of Standing Sound Waves is designed to study the formation of standing sound waves by reflection from a rigid barrier. The setup uses a function generator and a broadband loudspeaker to produce sound waves across the audible frequency range, while a microphone detects the sound intensity distribution. By measuring the spacing between successive intensity minima, students can determine the wavelength of the sound waves and investigate the characteristics of standing wave patterns. Manufactured by Atico Export India.
Principle
Standing sound waves are formed when incident sound waves reflect from a rigid surface and interfere with the incoming waves. This interference produces alternating regions of maximum and minimum sound intensity, known as antinodes and nodes. The distance between successive intensity minima is directly related to the wavelength of the sound wave, allowing the wavelength to be determined experimentally.
