The Dual-Twin Lubricating Oil Foaming Tester evaluates the foaming characteristics of lubricating oils under conditions involving turbulence, high-speed gearing, and high-volume pumping. Excessive foaming can cause inadequate lubrication, cavitation, overflow, and premature oxidation. The test involves passing a controlled volume of air through the sample at specified temperatures and measuring the resulting foam at the end of each aeration period and at designated intervals afterward. The system performs two tests at 24°C (75°F) and two tests at 93.5°C (200°F) simultaneously. It consists of two constant-temperature baths equipped with microprocessor temperature controls, copper immersion heaters, and circulation stirrers to maintain temperature uniformity. PID control enables rapid temperature stabilization while minimizing overshoot, and an over-temperature protection circuit interrupts power if the bath exceeds the programmed cutoff. Dual LED displays show actual and setpoint temperatures in Celsius or Fahrenheit. The cold bath includes coils for cooling exhaust air from the high-temperature tests and for circulating cooling water or refrigerant when required. The system also supports automatic time-sequence testing, with custom configurations available for specialized applications.
