+91 98967 93832The Dielectric Properties of Water Using UHF Waves experiment is designed to demonstrate the dielectric behavior of water using decimeter (UHF) electromagnetic waves. The experiment shows how the propagation characteristics of electromagnetic waves change when they travel through water instead of air. Students observe the effect of the dielectric constant of water on wavelength and receiver tuning, providing a practical understanding of wave propagation in different media. Manufactured by Atico Export India.
Principle
Electromagnetic waves travel at different speeds in different media depending on the dielectric properties of the material. Since water has a much higher dielectric constant than air, decimeter waves propagate through water with a lower velocity and consequently a shorter wavelength. A receiver dipole tuned for the wavelength in air becomes detuned when immersed in water, demonstrating the influence of the dielectric medium on electromagnetic wave propagation.
