Existent Gum Evaporation Bath for Petroleum Testing Equipment

The Gum Content Tester is designed to determine the existent gum content in aviation gasoline, motor gasoline, and aircraft turbine fuels. Gum formed during fuel storage can deposit on induction system surfaces, intake valves, stems, and guides, potentially affecting engine performance.

During testing, a 50 mL fuel sample is evaporated under controlled temperature and flow conditions for a specified period. Air-jet evaporation is used for motor and aviation gasolines, while steam-jet evaporation is used for aircraft turbine fuels.

The apparatus features an electrically heated aluminium block bath, digital flowmeter, pressure regulators, and microprocessor-based temperature control. Stainless steel jets deliver air or steam through removable brass conical adapters to ensure controlled evaporation conditions.
