+91 98967 93832The Faraday Effect Experiment is designed to study the rotation of the plane of polarization of light when it passes through an optical medium placed in a magnetic field. The experiment demonstrates the Faraday Effect and enables the measurement of the Verdet constant of a dispersive material. It also helps students understand the relationship between light, magnetism, and the optical properties of materials. Manufactured by Atico Export India.
Principle
When linearly polarized light passes through an optical medium placed in a strong magnetic field, the plane of polarization rotates by an angle proportional to the magnetic field strength and the length of the optical path. This phenomenon is known as the Faraday Effect or Faraday Rotation. The proportionality constant is called the Verdet Constant, which depends on the optical medium and the wavelength of light. The experiment uses an SF6 glass block as the optical medium to study this effect and determine the Verdet constant.
