+91 98967 93832The Franck-Hertz Experiment Apparatus is designed to demonstrate the existence of quantized atomic energy levels through electron-atom collisions. The experiment provides fundamental evidence for quantum theory by observing the energy transfer between accelerated electrons and argon atoms inside a gas-filled vacuum tube. As electrons gain sufficient energy, they transfer discrete amounts of energy to argon atoms, producing characteristic variations in the anode current. Manufactured by Atico Export India.
Principle
The experiment is based on the inelastic collision of electrons with argon atoms inside a vacuum tube. Electrons emitted from a heated cathode are accelerated toward the anode through a controlled electric field. When the electrons acquire sufficient energy, they transfer a fixed quantum of energy to argon atoms during collisions, causing a sudden decrease in the anode current. As the accelerating voltage increases further, this process repeats, producing multiple current maxima and minima that demonstrate the existence of discrete atomic energy levels.
