+91 98967 93832The free-fall corer consists of a frame, falling weight and sampler, specially designed for collecting sediment samples at greater water depths of more than 30 m. The sampler is lowered from a boat using a hoisting unit (davit) and released into free fall. Its own weight and acquired velocity drive the apparatus into the submerged soil.
The sampler collects semi-disturbed samples from the upper layers of submerged sediments. The penetration depth depends partly on the composition of the sediment. In muddy bottoms, penetration can reach approximately 80 cm, while in sandier materials it is approximately 30 cm.
The system features a non-return valve at the top of the sampler to prevent water from remaining above the collected sample, helping keep the sample in position.
The free-fall corer is not suitable for rocky bottoms or unconsolidated materials that cannot retain the sample.
Manufactured by Atico Export to meet the practical requirements of modern environmental laboratories and underwater sediment sampling applications.
