+91 98967 93832The Hot-Air Engine Friction Work Experiment is designed to determine the work of friction in a hot-air engine by measuring the temperature rise of the cooling water. During the experiment, the hot-air engine is driven by an electric motor with the cylinder head open, allowing the frictional losses to be evaluated independently of the engine's thermal cycle. The apparatus provides an effective demonstration of mechanical losses and energy conversion in thermodynamic systems. Manufactured by Atico Export India.
Principle
The experiment is based on the conversion of mechanical energy into heat due to friction. The hot-air engine is driven externally by an electric motor while the cylinder head remains open. The friction generated within the engine components produces heat, which is transferred to the cooling water. By measuring the increase in the cooling water temperature, the work of friction can be determined.
