+91 98967 93832The constant head permeameter is designed to measure the hydraulic conductivity and permeability of soil in the field. It operates according to the Mariotte bottle principle, maintaining a constant water head during the measurement process.
After drilling a borehole to the required depth, the instrument is installed and water is allowed to flow slowly into the borehole and infiltrate the surrounding soil. As the soil becomes saturated, a stable saturated bulb forms around the borehole. When the water outflow reaches a constant rate, the value is measured and used for permeability calculations.
Measurements generally take between 30 minutes and 2 hours, depending on soil conditions, and require approximately 2.5 litres of water.
The shape of the saturated bulb depends on the soil type, borehole radius and water head. This effect is considered through the C-factor used in the calculations. The set includes 80 cm extension attachments to increase the working depth, with a maximum practical working depth of 3.15 metres.
Additional accessories are available to expand the measurement capabilities. The instrument is designed for measurements above the groundwater table.
Manufactured by Atico Export to meet the practical requirements of modern geotechnical, environmental and soil research laboratories.
