Half Shade Polarimeter for Physics Lab Experiments Setup

Half Shade Polarimeter is designed to study and analyze the concept of polarization. The instrument provides accurate determination of specific rotation by comparing the brightness of two halves in the field of view.

The apparatus works on Biot’s Law. When plane-polarized light passes through an optically active substance, the plane of polarization rotates. By comparing the brightness of the two halves, the optical rotation produced by an optically active substance in solution form can be determined.
