+91 98967 93832The Hall Effect Experiment is designed to study the Hall Effect in semiconductor materials and determine the Hall coefficient, carrier concentration, and carrier mobility. The experiment helps distinguish between different types of charge carriers, which cannot be determined through resistivity measurements alone. It provides a comprehensive setup for understanding the electrical properties of semiconductor materials and their behavior in the presence of a magnetic field. Manufactured by Atico Export India.
Principle
When an electric current flows through a conductor or semiconductor placed in a magnetic field perpendicular to the direction of current, a voltage is developed across the specimen in a direction perpendicular to both the current and the magnetic field. This voltage is known as the Hall Voltage, and the phenomenon is called the Hall Effect.
In this experiment, the semiconductor crystal mounted on a PCB is positioned between the pole pieces of an electromagnet. A constant current is supplied through the crystal, while the electromagnet generates a controlled magnetic field. The magnetic field strength is measured using a digital gauss meter with a Hall probe, and the resulting Hall voltage is measured using a digital multimeter.
