Hogweed auger for Soil Testing Lab

The two-piece root auger is designed for collecting nearly undisturbed and uniform soil samples from layers up to 15 cm thick. It consists of a bottom section fitted with an interchangeable drilling crown and a short detachable upper section with a handle and impact head.

In lighter soils, the auger can be pushed and rotated directly into the ground. For heavier soil conditions, an impact-absorbing hammer can be used to facilitate penetration.

The standard set includes additional augers for enlarging the borehole and levelling its bottom surface. A conical threaded connection is provided for secure assembly.

The auger is equipped with a sample extruder unit that pushes the collected soil sample out of the cylindrical body. The extruder is operated using a crank handle for convenient sample removal.

The complete root auger set, including all accessories, is supplied in an aluminium transport case for convenient storage and transportation.
