The Stress-Strain Apparatus is a laboratory testing system designed to investigate the relationship between tensile stress and strain in different materials. It stretches and, in some cases, breaks a test specimen while measuring the applied force and the resulting change in length. The collected data is used to generate a stress-strain curve, allowing students to determine Youngs Modulus, elastic region, plastic region, yield point and breaking point.
The apparatus enables the measurement and analysis of various mechanical properties, including Youngs Modulus, yield strength, tensile strength, ductility and toughness. Students can also compare stress-strain curves produced by different materials. Compatible software helps determine Youngs Modulus from the slope of the initial elastic region and calculate toughness by integrating the area under the curve.
Designed and manufactured by Atico Export to meet the practical requirements of modern material testing laboratories and engineering education facilities.
Working Principle :
Tension is applied to the test specimen by manually turning the operating knob until the specimen stretches or breaks. The applied force is measured using a force sensor connected through USB or Bluetooth. A metal lever provides a 5:1 mechanical advantage, increasing the maximum measurable force to 250 N.
Stress is calculated by dividing the applied force by the original cross-sectional area of the specimen. No correction is made for changes in cross-sectional area during stretching.
The change in specimen length is measured using a rotary motion sensor with a resolution of 0.007 mm. Strain is calculated by dividing the change in length by the original specimen length.
