Meter Stick Rotation Apparatus

The Meter Stick Rotation Apparatus is a physics laboratory setup designed to study rotational motion, centripetal force and rotational inertia. It features a half-meter stick that rotates around a selected pivot point. A wireless force sensor can be attached to the rotating meter stick to directly measure the centripetal force acting on a mass connected to the sensor through a string.

The apparatus includes two adjustable mass holders that can slide freely along the meter stick or be securely fixed at selected positions. The rotational inertia of the system can be determined by accelerating the apparatus using a hanging mass passing over a pulley, with a photogate used to measure rotational motion.
