Pendulum Demonstration Set

Principle

A simple pendulum performs simple harmonic motion when displaced from its equilibrium position and released. During oscillation, energy continuously transforms between potential energy and kinetic energy while the total mechanical energy remains conserved. The time period of oscillation depends primarily on the length of the pendulum, whereas the mass of the pendulum bob has little effect on the time period.
