Precooling Apparatus for Oil Fuel and Petroleum Testing Instruments

The Liquefied Petroleum Gas Volatility and Residue Tester determines the volatility of liquefied petroleum (LP) gases by allowing a precooled sample to weather under specified conditions and recording the temperature at which 95% of the sample has evaporated. Residue determination is performed by weathering a precooled sample and measuring the volume remaining at 100°F (37.8°C). The apparatus consists of a brass cooling vessel with a built-in 20 ft (6 m) copper cooling coil. It includes compression fittings and a 1/8-inch needle valve at the downstream end.
