Profile sampler for Soil Testing Lab

The profile sampler is designed for collecting large, virtually undisturbed soil samples from depths of approximately 40 cm. It collects soil profiles measuring approximately 10 cm wide and 5 cm across, allowing individual soil layers to be sampled and examined separately. Roots with a cross-section of up to 2 cm can also be included in the collected sample.

It allows easy determination of the volume and weight of different soil layers while providing a quick and accurate assessment of root growth quantity and distribution.

During sampling, the two U-shaped chutes are alternately pushed into the ground until the required depth is reached. One side of the shaft is then pulled upward sharply while the other is pushed downward to clamp the soil profile securely. The sampler can then be extracted and opened for sample collection or profile examination.

The collected sample can also be placed back into its original position, helping minimize disturbance to the research area.
