+91 98967 93832The Wave Plates Experiment is designed to study the effect of quarter-wave and half-wave plates on polarized light. The experiment demonstrates how wave plates introduce a phase difference between two orthogonal polarization components, thereby altering the state of polarization of light. It enables students to understand the conversion between linear, circular, and elliptical polarization, as well as the rotation of the plane of polarization. Manufactured by Atico Export India.
Principle
Wave plates are optical devices that split a light wave into two orthogonal linear polarization components by introducing a phase difference between them. This phase shift changes the polarization state of the transmitted light. A quarter-wave plate converts linearly polarized light into circular or elliptical polarized light and vice versa, while a half-wave plate rotates the plane of polarization of linearly polarized light by twice the angle between its optical axis and the initial polarization direction.
