Ramsbottom Carbon Residue Apparatus for Fuel Testing Instrument

The Ramsbottom Carbon Residue Test Furnace is designed to determine the carbon residue of petroleum products under controlled high-temperature conditions. The test evaluates the tendency of petroleum samples to form carbonaceous deposits during evaporation and thermal decomposition.

The apparatus features a thermostatically controlled cast-iron block furnace with a capacity for five coking bulbs. It rapidly reaches the standard test temperature of 550°C (1022°F) and maintains temperature stability within ±1°C. A microprocessor-based temperature controller provides a digital setpoint and temperature display, with selectable °C/°F units.

An integrated overtemperature protection circuit automatically interrupts power if the furnace temperature exceeds the programmed safety limit, protecting both the operator and equipment.
