This unit enables the study and operation of various components as applied to the refrigeration plant used in air conditioning systems. Both cooling and heating modes (reverse cycle operation) can be studied.

• Non-return valves (indoor and outdoor)
• Expansion devices (indoor and outdoor)

• Sight glass (heating mode)
• Suction line accumulator
• Defrost facility
• Evaporator

Cooling Mode — Simulated Fault Conditions:

• Normal operation
• High pressure switch — high pressure fault
• Low pressure switch — low pressure fault
• Compressor failed
• Indoor fan failed
• Outdoor fan failed
• Crankcase heater failed
• Reversing valve failed
• Drier blocked
• Expansion device failed
• Air flow low
• Non-return valve blocked/seized

Heating Mode — Simulated Fault Conditions:

• Normal operation
• Low pressure switch — low pressure fault
• Compressor failed
• Indoor fan failed
• Outdoor fan failed
• Crankcase heater failed
• Reversing valve failed
• Drier blocked
