Reichert Tester for Oil Fuel and Petroleum Testing Instruments

The Reichert Wear and Extreme Pressure Tester determines the wear-preventive (WP) and extreme-pressure (EP) properties of lubricants and additives. The test rig consists of a rigidly mounted test roller pressed against a friction wheel in a cross-cylinder contact configuration. The friction wheel is partially submerged in the lubricant bath, and the test load is applied using dead weights. A dual-measurement load cell measures the normal load and frictional force. A contact-type acoustic emission detector monitors scratching noise at the contact surface. The lubricant chamber incorporates a heater and temperature control system for operation from ambient temperature to the selected setpoint. Online data acquisition software records normal load, frictional force, coefficient of friction, sound level, lubricant bath temperature, and sliding distance for analysis and comparison. An optical microscope with a CCD camera-based image acquisition system is provided to examine wear scars and measure their major and minor axes for calculating scar diameter.
