+91 98967 93832The Rotational Inertia Accessory Set is designed for use with a compatible rotary motion sensor to investigate pendulum oscillations, rotational inertia, and the conservation of angular momentum during rotational collisions. It allows students to study the rotational inertia of a disk, steel ring, and metal rod. A clamp-on super pulley enables the application of torque by suspending a mass over the pulley.
Designed and manufactured by Atico Export to meet the practical requirements of modern physics laboratories and educational training facilities.
Conservation of angular momentum :
A non-rotating ring is dropped onto a rotating disk to demonstrate the conservation of angular momentum. The angular velocity of the disk is recorded in real time, allowing students to determine its angular velocities immediately before and after the ring is dropped. By combining these measurements with the rotational inertia of the disk and ring, students can verify the conservation of angular momentum.
Coupled pendulums :
Two pendulums are coupled using a rubber band. Their position versus time graphs can be plotted to demonstrate energy transfer between the pendulums.
Large-amplitude pendulum :
A mass is placed at each end of the tube, allowing the pendulum to oscillate slowly. Students can observe the pendulum's motion while monitoring real-time graphs of displacement, velocity, and acceleration versus time. The period can be measured at different amplitudes and compared with theoretical values.
