+91 98967 93832This kit demonstrates a common biology concept: a U-shaped tube with a permeable membrane separating a hypotonic and hypertonic solution. It provides a practical way to study osmosis using a simple and effective lab setup.
With a dual pressure sensor, students can explore the rate of water movement and measure pressure changes in the system. Results are accurate and collected much faster compared to using a dialysis bag.
The kit can be used to demonstrate osmosis and semi-permeability for introductory biology students. Advanced students can investigate the effects of different solute concentrations or changes in pressure. It can also be used in chemistry to study relationships between volume and pressure, and in environmental science to demonstrate water movement in soil and plants.
How It Works
The apparatus consists of a U-shaped tube with two columns separated by a semi-permeable membrane. It allows students to observe and measure volume changes due to osmosis and solute changes due to diffusion. When used with a dual pressure sensor, it also enables measurement of pressure and volume changes caused by osmotic water movement from a hypotonic solution to a hypertonic solution.
