+91 98967 93832The Tension Protractor combines a spring scale and a protractor into a single device for measuring string tension and angle simultaneously. It is ideal for static equilibrium experiments. The rotary dial indicates the tension in the string, while the angle is measured where the string passes over the degree scale on the outer ring.
The device is supported by a mounting rod, preventing the instrument's weight from affecting the string angle, unlike conventional spring scales. The string wraps once around a small spring-loaded pulley. Its torsion spring scale is factory-calibrated and can be zero-adjusted using the thumb screw at the back. A red pointer indicates the tension and matches the Newton scale for easy reading.
The outer degree scale can be rotated to align a hanging string with the 90° mark, allowing accurate vertical angle measurement even when the mounting rod is not perfectly vertical.
Designed and manufactured by Atico Export to meet the practical requirements of modern physics laboratories and educational training facilities.
Working principle :
The string is wrapped once around a spring-loaded pulley connected to a torsion spring mechanism. The applied tension causes the mechanism to rotate, and the calibrated dial indicates the force in Newtons. The angle is read directly from the outer degree scale at the point where the string passes over it.
The scale can be zero-adjusted using the rear thumb screw. The outer ring can also be rotated to align the degree scale with the vertical direction for accurate measurements.
