+91 98967 93832The Thomson Tube for Determination of e/m is designed to investigate the behavior of electron beams in electric and magnetic fields and to determine the specific charge (e/m) of an electron. The apparatus demonstrates thermionic emission, electron beam deflection, and velocity analysis using electric and magnetic fields. A focused electron beam is produced inside an evacuated glass tube and projected onto a fluorescent screen for clear observation, making it an ideal experimental setup for advanced physics laboratories. Manufactured by Atico Export India.
Principle
The Thomson Tube is used to investigate the deflection of electron beams in electric and magnetic fields. It enables the estimation of the specific charge (e/m) of an electron and the determination of electron velocity. The tube consists of an electron gun that produces a narrow, focused electron beam inside an evacuated glass bulb. The electron beam can be deflected electrostatically using built-in deflection plates or magnetically using Helmholtz coils. The beam strikes a fluorescent screen mounted on a mica sheet with a millimeter graticule, allowing accurate observation and measurement of electron deflection.
