The two-piece gouge auger set for hard soils is designed for collecting soil samples from compact and hard soil layers at depths of up to 5 metres. The set includes a heavy-duty gouge auger, extension rods with conical screw thread connections, an impact-absorbing hammer with nylon heads, a push/pull handle, various accessories and a durable carrying bag for field transportation.

The gouge auger is manufactured from high-tensile carbon steel strips forged into a semi-cylindrical shape with parallel cutting edges. The steel is supplied without lacquer coating or zinc plating to help prevent sample contamination.

The auger can be extended using additional extension rods, allowing sampling at greater depths and making soil investigations faster and more efficient.

For long-term durability, the equipment should be cleaned and dried properly before storage.
