+91 98967 93832Ultrasonic Interferometer is designed to measure the ultrasonic velocity in liquids. The measurement of ultrasonic velocity, combined with other physical quantities, can provide useful information for determining various physical and molecular parameters.
Physics Lab Experiments Setup from Atico Exports.
Working Principle :
The measurement of ultrasonic velocity is based on the accurate determination of wavelength in the medium. Ultrasonic waves of known frequency are produced by a quartz crystal mounted at the bottom of the measuring cell. These waves are reflected by a movable metallic plate positioned parallel to the quartz crystal.
When the separation between the quartz crystal and metallic plate is an exact whole multiple of the sound wavelength, standing waves are formed in the medium. This acoustic resonance produces an electrical reaction in the generator driving the quartz crystal, causing the anode current of the generator to reach a maximum.
When the distance is increased or decreased by exactly one-half wavelength or its multiple, the anode current again reaches a maximum. Using the measured wavelength and known frequency, the ultrasonic velocity can be determined.
