+91 98967 93832The visibility disc is a simple instrument used to determine water transparency and visibility depth. The disc is lowered into the water using a marked wire rope. When it is no longer visible, the depth is recorded using the markings on the rope.
The disc is then lowered an additional 0.5 metres and slowly pulled upward. A second reading is recorded when the disc becomes visible again. The visibility depth is calculated as the arithmetic mean of the two measurements. This instrument follows an internationally recognised measurement method and provides a quick assessment of water transparency.
Water turbidity :
Water transparency can be influenced by water colour, algae and suspended sediments. Increased concentrations of these elements reduce visibility. Water may appear yellow or brown due to decaying plant matter, while algae abundance is often related to the levels of nutrients such as phosphorus and nitrogen.
Suspended sediments may originate from lake-bottom resuspension, construction activities, agricultural fields and urban stormwater runoff. Measuring water transparency over different seasons and years helps identify environmental changes and assess the impact of surrounding land-use activities on water quality.
Manufactured by Atico Export to meet the practical requirements of modern environmental laboratories and water quality monitoring applications.
