A weather vane or wind vane is an instrument for showing the direction of the wind. They are typically used as an architectural ornament to the highest point of a building.
The current wind direction, combined with knowledge of the geography of a region, can often provide a good indication of how the weather may change over the next day or two. For this reason, a wind vane is often used in weather forecasting.
Our wind vane has a simple arrow as the pointer, with the points of the compass labeled below, with letters indicating all four directions, including the North, South, East and West.
With bearings mounted on a steel pivot, it is precise and comes complete on a metal base.
