+91 98967 93832The Zeeman Effect Apparatus is designed to study the effect of a strong magnetic field on the spectral emission lines of mercury. It demonstrates the splitting of atomic energy levels and spectral lines when exposed to a magnetic field, allowing students to understand the Zeeman Effect and its significance in atomic physics. The apparatus incorporates a high-resolution Fabry-Perot etalon, video capture system, and analysis software for accurate observation and evaluation of spectral line splitting. Manufactured by Atico Export India.
Principle
The Zeeman Effect occurs when a strong magnetic field causes the splitting of atomic energy levels, resulting in the division of a single spectral line into multiple components. The apparatus studies the green mercury emission line at a wavelength of 545.1 nm. Under the influence of a magnetic field, the degenerate energy levels split into multiple levels, producing several allowed spectral transitions. A high-resolution Fabry-Perot etalon enables precise observation of these small energy shifts.
