Need Help?
+91 98967 93832The purpose of the instrument is to perform rapid, non-destructive, localized permeability measurements on rock samples using the steady state method. The main components are pressure, flow, core frame, and injection probe modules. A measurement is taken by positioning the probe tip at a desired location on the sample and then pressing against its surface. Hereafter, nitrogen gas is forced to flow at constant pressure through the injection tip and into the permeable sample. A mass flow controller determines the flow rate while the pore pressure is deduced from a highly accurate electronic pressure transducer. The instrument is provided with a data acquisition and calculation computer station. Permeability values are derived from the modified Darcy’s law which includes a geometric factor that takes into account flow complexities around the tip seal.
