Small Fire Assay Kit

Beginner fire assay kit designed to help miners set up a laboratory for performing fire assays.
Allows up to 6 assays at a time.
Includes all necessary equipment and materials to perform assays and determine the weight of precious metal beads.
The advanced kit includes additional equipment such as automatic temperature control for the furnace and an analytical balance for improved accuracy.

Working Principle

• Ore is mixed with premixed flux in a crucible and heated in a furnace.
• The molten material is poured into a mold, forming a lead button.
• The lead button is placed on a cupel and reheated, leaving behind a bead of precious metals for measurement.

Kit Contents

• 1 lb cupelling lead wool
• 1 lb gold ore
• 2 fire bricks
• 10 lbs standard ore assay flux
• 10 lbs sulfide ore assay flux
• 6 lbs gold/silver bullion flux
• 8 crucibles (30 grams)
• 20 cupels (1.5” MgO)
• 1 ceramic crayon

Safety

• Lead fumes are poisonous
• Furnaces must not be used indoors unless under a ventilated metal hood
