Bending Specimen

The specimen is instrumented with strain gauges to characterize bending deformations generated by the tension-flexion test bench. A 6-channel strain gauge bridge displays the deformation values.

Pedagogical Objectives:

• Evidence of small deformations
• Verification of stress distribution across a straight section of a bent beam
• Verification of stress variation along the beam as a function of bending moment
• Determination of the longitudinal elastic modulus of the material (steel)
