+91 98967 93832A typical mixer-settler comprises a continuous-operation mixing zone and a continuous-operation settling zone, separated by a weir to prevent back-mixing. Learning Objectives: Study of experimental parameters: influence of heavy- and light-phase flow rates on the system; influence of agitation. Calculations: Mass balance. The mixer and the settler can be designed more or less separately. The mixing process for heavy phase 1 and light phase 2 is adjustable by selecting the agitator, its speed, and the flow rate.
Heavy-phase inlet (typically aqueous feed).
Heavy-phase outlet (typically aqueous raffinate).
Light-phase inlet (typically organic solvent).
Light-phase outlet (typically organic extract).
Support frame in 304L stainless steel tubing with aluminium fittings.
2 x 10 L polyethylene carboys for heavy- and light-phase feed.
2 x 10 L polyethylene carboys for heavy- and light-phase raffinate collection.
3 peristaltic pumps with variable flow rate 0–9 L/h.
2 variable-speed agitation motors with turbines.
2 horizontal dismountable borosilicate glass decanters, each with an agitation zone with overflow and a settling zone with heavy- and light-phase sampling ports.
2 Pt100 temperature probes in the agitation zone with display.
Electrical cabinet with emergency stop.
