Braun Electroscope

The Braun Electroscope is designed for physics laboratory demonstrations of electrostatic phenomena, particularly the principles of charging and charge detection. This sensitive electroscope can be used with different accessories to modify its capacitance and provides a clear indication of charge through the movement of its lightweight aluminium vane. The vane can be observed and projected onto a board using a suitable light source. The instrument can also be supplied with a stainless-steel vane and has an approximate height of 9 inches. It is useful for demonstrating how the electroscope responds when charged and how the deflection of the vane changes as the charge is repelled by the vertical rod. The apparatus is supplied with instructions and can be charged using an electrophorus or a suitable external power supply.
