Electrophorus

The Electrophorus is designed for producing electrostatic charges and is suitable for electroscope experiments and classroom demonstrations. It consists of a thick plastic base fitted with a brass metal disc, mounted coaxially on a Perspex handle. The insulating handle is also available in ebonite. The brass disc is designed with smooth edges to minimize the possibility of charge leakage. This physics laboratory equipment is useful for demonstrating induction charging and showing how a strong electrical charge can be produced through friction when suitable insulating materials are rubbed together.
