Gold Leaf Electroscope Simple Flask

The Simple Flask Type Gold Leaf Electroscope consists of two very thin gold leaves suspended from a metal stem with a metal disc fitted at the top. The leaves are enclosed within a 500 ml conical glass flask, which is provided with a rubber stopper and an insulating bush for protection and electrical isolation. When an electric charge is applied to the metal disc, it spreads through the stem and leaves, causing both leaves to acquire similar charges and repel each other. The flask is fitted with a wide foil earthing strip running along opposite sides and across the bottom, providing suitable grounding during electrostatic experiments.
