It is specifically suited for applications requiring effective size control of particles smaller than 1 mm in water, especially in the 100 to 4-micron range.
The Small-Scale Hydrocyclone is an ideal solution for optimizing wet classification and separation processes in laboratory and pilot-scale applications. With its compact design, high efficiency, and user-friendly operation, this device provides precise control and flexible use.
Working Principle :
The hydrocyclone operates on the principles of centrifugal force and vortex motion. The process works as follows:
Feed : A mixture of liquid and solid particles is fed under high pressure into the hydrocyclone through an inlet on the side. This mixture begins to spin rapidly within the hydrocyclone, creating a vortex.
Centrifugal Force : As the mixture spins within the conical structure of the hydrocyclone, centrifugal force is generated. This force pushes denser, larger particles outward toward the hydrocyclone walls, while lighter, finer particles remain in the center.
Separation : Under the influence of centrifugal force, the heavier and larger particles are directed to the bottom outlet, known as the –spigot.– These particles are typically coarser and denser materials. The lighter and finer particles, on the other hand, concentrate at the center and exit through the upper outlet, known as the –vortex finder.–
Result : This process results in the material being split into two streams: dense and coarse particles at the bottom and fine and light particles at the top. The separation may vary depending on particle size or density.
Application :
Power and Electricity :
Suitable for Laboratory and Pilot Studies : The device is adaptable for both laboratory and pilot-scale operations, offering flexibility for a variety of tests and analyses.
High-Capacity Pump : Equipped with a centrifugal pump with a head capacity of 38 m SS (3.8 bar) and a flow rate of 10 m°/h. The pump flow can be precisely adjusted with by-pass and flow control valves.
Stainless Steel Main Tank : Features a 70 L main tank made from AISI 304 stainless steel, ensuring durability and longevity.
Pressure Gauge : A precision pressure gauge is installed at the cyclone inlet, enhancing control and efficiency of the classification process.
Electric Motor and Pump : Operated by a centrifugal pump driven by a 5.5 HP, 2800 RPM, 380 V, 3-phase, 50 Hz motor, providing efficient liquid handling.
Polyurethane Cyclones : The device is equipped with polyurethane cyclones for different cut sizes:
°22 mm PU Cyclone : Cut size of 4–7 microns, capacity of 0.5–1.4 m°/h.
°44 mm PU Cyclone : Cut size of 5–10 microns, capacity of 0.9–3.8 m°/h.
Wheeled Steel Stand : Mounted on a steel frame with wheels, enhancing the device–s mobility for easy use across various workspaces.
