Magnetometer

A magnetometer is a precision measuring instrument used to determine the magnetization of magnetic materials and to measure the strength and, in some applications, the direction of a magnetic field at a specific point in space.

The instrument consists of a sturdy Bakelite box approximately 100 mm in diameter, fitted with an aluminum dial graduated from 0° to 90° four times and provided with an anti-parallax mirror for accurate readings.

The magnetic needle is supported on a fine agate bearing and fitted with a lightweight aluminum pointer, providing precise readings with effective damping.
