pH Control for Physiology Lab

The pH Control Unit is designed to control and regulate the pH of buffer solutions by carefully bubbling CO2 into the perfusate. A feedback control system regulates CO2 delivery into a dedicated small-volume reservoir to maintain the desired pH while minimizing foaming. The pH is measured using a pH sensor, and the control module automatically adjusts CO2 delivery according to the measured value. For example, a pH of 7.4 can be maintained in a suitable buffer solution by controlled CO2 bubbling. Operating Principle :

• CO2 is supplied from a gas source to the reservoir through a controlled valve
• The pH sensor continuously measures the buffer solution
• When the measured pH is above the selected value, the valve opens and CO2 enters the reservoir
• CO2 lowers the pH of the buffer solution
• When the desired pH is reached, the CO2 valve closes
• The feedback cycle automatically repeats to maintain the selected pH
