Ventilation Options Physiology Lab

The ventilation system is designed to provide controlled ventilation for isolated lung preparation applications. It supports both physiological negative pressure ventilation and positive pressure ventilation during preparation. The system offers adjustable ventilation parameters and can be configured for positive pressure ventilation only or combined positive and sub-atmospheric pressure ventilation. Positive and Sub-Atmospheric Pressure Ventilation :

• Used to control ventilation of the isolated lung preparation
• Supports physiological negative pressure ventilation of the lung
• Provides positive pressure ventilation during preparation
• Ventilation rate: 30 to 100 breaths per minute
• I:E ratio adjustable between 10% and 90% in 10% steps
• End-inspiratory pressure can be individually adjusted
• End-expiratory pressure can be individually adjusted
• Sigh pressure can be individually adjusted
• Positive pressure can be individually adjusted
• Negative pressure can be individually adjusted
• Timer counter module allows periodic sigh or hyperinflation breaths to help minimize edema formation
• Adapter available for supplying an alternative gas mixture to the trachea during negative ventilation

Negative Pressure Ventilation Control Option :

• Available with an integrated pump for negative pressure ventilation
• Available with a pressure regulator for controlled negative pressure ventilation
• Utilizes 6-slot units
• Pressure-regulated operation requires a pressurized gas supply
• Required gas supply pressure: 2 to 8 bar (29 to 116 PSI)
• Alternative gas mixtures can be supplied to the lungs during sub-atmospheric pressure ventilation

Pressure-Free Gas Supply Adapter :

• Used during sub-atmospheric pressure ventilation
• Allows alternative gas mixtures to be supplied to the lungs
• Suitable for use with pump or pressure-regulated ventilation configurations

Positive Pressure Ventilation Only :

• Suitable for applications requiring positive pressure ventilation only
• Ventilation rate: 60 to 400 breaths per minute
• Stroke volume: 30 to 350 µl
• Stroke volume can be adjusted during operation
• Compact design allows positioning close to the system
• Compact configuration helps minimize system volume
• Includes connection adapter for an external respirator
