Autoshaping Auto for Mice for Physiological Research Instrumentation

Task principle :

• White vertical rectangles are presented on either side of the reward tray
• One side is consistently followed by food reward
• The other side is never followed by food reward
• Reward delivery is independent of the animal's approach to the screen

Response measurement :

• Approaches to the screen are measured using IR beam detectors positioned on either side of the food tray
• For this task, the reward trough is positioned in front of the screen

Task variant :

• A modified version provides the reward only when the animal does not approach the screen
• This variant measures the ability to withhold a response
