Moist Chamber for Physiology Lab

The Moist Chamber is a flexible, standard jacketed and fully heated chamber designed for ex vivo perfusion of abdominal organs from typical rodent models. This temperature-controlled chamber with a metal tube heat exchanger is intended for perfusion of isolated organs such as kidney, liver, pancreas or mesenteric bed from mice, rats or guinea pigs under controlled physiological temperature conditions. Organ perfusion for a few hours to one day is possible. For long-term perfusion studies, a fully airtight autoclavable moist chamber is recommended. The chamber can be used for constant pressure or constant flow perfusion. Special Application – Rat Mesenteric Bed :

• Moist chamber serves as the key component of the perfusion system
• Mesenteric tissue is placed on a stainless steel mesh
• Stainless steel mesh replaces the silicone plate
• Mesh also acts as an anode during electrical stimulation

Working System Requirements :

• Thermostated circulation water bath with approximately 3 to 5 L capacity
• Distilled water and suitable algal growth inhibitor
• Carbogen source for aeration
• Central carbogen supply or carbogen cylinder with pressure-reducing valve
• Perfusate reservoir
• Gas frit for aeration, where required
• Bubble trap positioned directly before the perfused organ
• Pump, usually a roller pump, with the required output
• Adapted cannula set according to the perfused organ and its size

Recommended Measurement Components :

• Pressure transducer for measuring perfusion pressure
• Bridge amplifier for signal amplification and connection to a PC-based recording system
• Additional measurement of perfusion flow, pH, pCO2 and temperature according to the experimental application
