Paw and Tail Pressure Meter for Behavioral Research test

The Paw and Tail Pressure Meter is designed for performing the Randall-Selitto test in rodents by determining the animal's threshold response to pain induced through uniformly increasing pressure applied to the paw or tail. The system provides gradual and constant pressure increase at selectable rates using a step motor and sliding support with a distal stimulation tip. A pivoting stand helps prevent excessive pressure on the animal paw, while the control unit allows adjustment and resetting of the force transducer and selection of motor speed. The system can be used with rats and mice, with paw pressure commonly used in rats and tail pressure commonly used in mice. Two interchangeable stimulation tips, including pointed and flat tips, are provided for different mechanical stimulation areas. A remote foot switch enables rapid hands-free operation, while an automatic mechanism reverses the motor when the test is completed.
