The Stimulator for Isolated Cells is an electronic square wave stimulator specially designed for electrical field stimulation of isolated cells such as myocytes. It can also be used for other stimulation applications where high currents are required. The stimulator provides constant-voltage monophasic, biphasic, or alternating stimulation with output currents greater than 1 A. Biphasic stimulation with symmetrical pulses helps reduce electrochemical effects such as electrode polarization and gas bubble formation. Short and powerful impulses can be used to activate action potentials while minimizing further influence of the stimulus on cell reactions.
