Automated Flocculation Titrimeter for Oil and Petroleum Testing Equipment

The Automated Flocculation Titrimeter is a computerized analytical instrument designed to determine the stability and compatibility of asphalt, heavy oils, petroleum residua, crude oils, and related materials. Samples are dissolved in toluene at different concentrations and titrated with iso-octane or n-heptane under controlled temperature conditions to determine the flocculation point, where asphaltenes begin to precipitate.

The instrument uses spectroscopic detection to identify the flocculation endpoint and a data acquisition system to analyze results. It calculates Heithaus compatibility parameters, blending insolubility and solubility numbers, and solubility parameters. The acquired data can also be used to calculate the Coking Index to evaluate the tendency of heavy oils to form coke during processing.
