The Digital Penetrometer is designed to determine the consistency and penetration characteristics of petroleum products, lubricating greases, petroleum waxes, bitumens, pastes, creams, and other solid to semi-solid materials. The test measures the depth to which a standard cone or needle penetrates a sample under specified conditions of time and temperature.

The microprocessor-based system provides automated timing, programmable test parameters, digital measurement, and reporting functions for consistent and reproducible results. It features four user-programmable presets for convenient penetrator placement, a large LCD for displaying test parameters and results, and an RS232 interface for data transfer.
