Sediment Extraction Apparatus for Oil and Petroleum Testing Equipment

This equipment determines the sediment content of crude oil and fuel oils by extraction with toluene. A test portion of the sample is placed in a refractory thimble. Toluene is gently boiled, and its vapors are condensed and allowed to drip into the sample funnel. The toluene washes out the oil, leaving only the insoluble residue in the thimble. The residue is weighed and calculated as a percentage of the original sample, referred to as sediment by extraction.
